Social Change Communications
Marketing techniques can serve as replicable models for social change communications in diverse situations, such as reforms in education, health and environment, or even for public education on tax reforms and the value of public audit.
A well deliberated campaign design and planning, which employs meaningful messages via mass media appeals and interventions by informal and formal community leaders or organizations, can effectively inform and motivate the public and lead to sustained changes in behavior.
This has been illustrated in IM&A’s polio eradication education campaign for the World Health Organization and Unicef. The education campaign raised the awareness of the dangers of polio in the media and mass organizations nationwide and helped to raise the number of infants in the polio immunization drive. Also awareness of cervical cancer education campaign for Glaxo Smith Kline / Ministry of Health and education campaign on prevention of osteoporosis for Fonterra Brands Indonesia/Anlene.
