Inke Maris launched her career as a reporter and producer of economics and trade programs for the BBC World Service – Indonesian section in London.
Upon her return to Indonesia in 1982, she joined state-owned television station, TVRI, where she earned her stripes as a newscaster and interviewer. Inke’s strong grounding in the business and political arenas and her wide network of influencers contribute to her reputation and she is held in high regard as one of Indonesia’s leading veteran journalists. She was subsequently headhunted to head the PR office of the Jakarta World Trade Centre in 1985.
In 1987, Inke founded Inke Maris & Associates. Over the years, she has provided strategic communications counsel to numerous clients, with particular focus on public service projects conducted by various Government departments, including the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Tourism and Culture
and the Ministry of Public Works – Directorate General for Highways, and Directorate General for Human Settlements.
With a postgraduate degree in Mass Communications studies from the Center for Mass Communication Research at the University of Leicester in England, Inke was appointed to an expert staff position in the office of the Coordinating Minister for Economics in 2001, and in the office of the Minister of Women Empowerment. She also played a major role in the setting up and operation of the SBY – JK (Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono – Jusuf Kalla) media center during the 2004 presidential elections campaign.
