The launch of the new warehouse of MITSUI-SOKO INTERNATIONAL in Indonesia

Jakarta, 16 April 2015. The new logistics facilities of MITSUI-SOKO INTERNATIONAL Pte. Ltd. (Managing Director: Kei Fujioka) under construction near Jakarta, Indonesia, were completed and already started operations. The ceremony to celebrate this completion was held today.

The newly constructed MITSUI-SOKO INDONESIA GIIC New Warehouse is a flat building with a total floor area of about 31,500 m2 in a total site area of about 53,700 m2. The total floor area in Indonesia of MITSUI-SOKO INTERNATIONAL is now 44,500 m2 together with the Cakung Warehouse near the Tanjung Priok Port. The MITSUI-SOKO INDONESIA GIIC New Warehouse is located in the GIIC (Greenland International Industrial Center) at the heart of the East Jakarta Industrial Park. By making the best use of this good location, the new logistics facilities will function as a storage area of raw materials for factories in the fields of automobiles, home electric appliances and daily necessities as well as a distribution center of the market for finished products.

MITSUI-SOKO INDONESIA, our local subsidiary, will build the optimal supply chain while responding to the ever-growing logistics demand in Indonesia with the Cakung Warehouse, which was expanded in October last year, and the currently completed GIIC Warehouse.

As one of the major projects in the medium-term management plan of Mitsui-Soko Group MOVE 2013, which will be closed by the end of this fiscal year on March 31, 2016, we aim at the concentrated investment in the growing areas in the Asia-Pacific region. (4) Shanghai, China (New construction/joint venture with a local company)

The Mitsui-Soko Group moved to a holding company system on October 1, 2014 and consolidated the overseas operations into MITSUI-SOKO INTERNATIONAL headquartered in Singapore. The transfer of the headquarters function to outside of Japan has been determined because it is necessary to make quick decisions suitable for local situations from a global point of view in order to acquire logistics businesses in various areas in Asia and between Asia and Europe/America, not limited to those starting from Japan. Under the new structure, therefore, the world has been divided into five blocks: Northeast Asia (Japan, South Korea and Taiwan), China (including Hong Kong), Southeast Asia, Americas and Europe. Each block has responsibility and authority for the area in charge. Around the warehousing facilities, which are the competitive advantage of the Mitsui-Soko Group, variety of functions of the operating companies in the group will be linked organically to strongly support global strategies of our clients. In addition, we will continuously implement necessary investment projects to cope with the increased demands of countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
