Food ingredients Asia 2014 : Presenting the Best Food ingredients industry and the latest information in ingredients industry


JAKARTA, 15 October 2014 – Food ingredients Asia (Fi Asia) 2014 is back for the third time in Indonesia and is opening from 15-17 October at the Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran. The exhibition will present the best in food ingredients selection and the latest information on ingredient industries. Officially inaugurated by His Excellency Prof Dr Ir Alex SW Retraubun, MSc., Vice Minister of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia today, Fi Asia 2014 brings over as many as 650 top quality local and international industry players from across 46 countries, and 13,000 visitors are expected to attend the show.

Organised by UBM, the world’s leading exhibition organiser, Fi Asia 2014 will be an international trade show which will facilitate business players in food and beverages from all over the world meet to build a network, introduce their products, and penetrate the markets in Asia, while source the latest information in ingredients industry.

Food ingredient Asia 2014 will show a variety of innovations and advancements in food and beverage industry including health and functional ingredients, natural ingredients, food ingredients, food ingredient processing, food safety, security and other supporting services. The main exhibitors will present various products and services in food ingredient industry such as bakery products, beverage products, foods and formulas for babies, dairy-based products, processed and instant foods, flavor enhancer, vegetarian foods, supplementary foods and ice creams.

Christopher Eve – President Director PT UBM Pameran Niaga Indonesia said, “Indonesia’s huge market is one of the driving reason for holding the Food ingredients Asia in Indonesia for the third time. From year to year, the number of participants is steadily increasing, and more and more world class suppliers take part in the event. This year, 50 food and beverage companies from Indonesia will take part in the exhibition dominating 50% of the total area of the exhibition at Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran. Participants from various countries will exhibit their best products, opening up aexciting opportunities for food ingredients industry in Indonesia to get reliable and effective sources of products and services to expand their international network.”

This 3-day event will marked with various interesting activities such as seminars and conferences on food industries. Innovative product competition as well as a conference will also be held by GAPMMI, while Exhibitors Seminars, Inovation Zone, where visitors will find products newly launched by frontline players in Fi Asia Exhibition. A Guided Ingredient Tour, organised by Nutrimarketing to look around the exhibition area with several options of tour themes such as Heart Health, Weight Management, Fighting Malnutrition, Flavours & Fragrance, and Clean Label.

  Ir. Adhi S. Lukman – Chairman of GAPMMI (Indonesian Food and Beverage Entrepreneur Association) said, “In Indonesia, food ingridients industry still lags behind. Indonesia still imports food ingredients. In fact, huge number of Indonesia’s population coupled with abundant natural resources can be precious potential to make Indonesia as the production and distribution bases for food ingredients. Towards the free market era, Indonesia is expected to be able to produce and process foods innovatively and efficiently. Therefore, it is important for all industries from home industries to large-scale industries to support and visit Fi Asia in providing value-added for the exhibitors and visitors. The event is also expected to encourage domestic players in food and beverage industries to produce a better and more competitive product to compete within the global markets.”

One of the main programs of Fi Asia this year is  Food for a Quality Life International Conference which will discuss innovations in food processing, new approaches in ensuring safety and quality food products, recent advances in nutrition and health research, and emerging food issues including policy and climate change.

Prof Dr. Nuri Andarwulan, Executive Secretary of South East Asian Food and Agricultural Science and Technology – SEAFAST Center, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) said, “In Fi Asia 2014, SEAFAST Center IPB, Department of Food Science and Technology IPB, and PATPI play important roles in holding the international-scale conference, taking “Food for a Quality Life” as the theme. The conference will discuss the latest issues and themes such as (1) Innovations in managing food safety and quality, (2) advance in nutrition and health, (3) news challenges in food industry dan (4). emerging food inssues. This conference is relevant for all stakeholders in food and beverage industries from private companies to governmental agencies and academic institutions, each having unique connection and suitability through both the plenary and parallel session. This international conference will be a vehicle in which the latest developments in researches, trades and business, advancements, Issue and ideas related to foods and beverages are discussed by those involved in development of food productions across the globe.”

Prof Dr Ir Alex SW Retraubun, MSc Vice Minister of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, said, “Indonesia as the most populous country in the South East Asia Region and the 4th most populous country in the world has been a potential market for food and beverage industries. But, until now, Indonesia still imports 60% of its needs for food ingredients despite the abundant natural resources. The presence of Food ingredients Asia in Indonesia is very positive and we fully support the event. In addition to open new opportunities for Indonesia’s businesses, Indonesia will get a lot of information about food and beverage industry while expanding it international network. It will increase productivity and efficiency without sacrificing quality, safety, and production reach.”

Fi Asia was held for the first time in Singapore in 1997, followed by Thailand in 2002.  Indonesia hosted the event for the first time in 2010. Fi Asia is fully supported by the Ministry of Industry, Indonesian Food and Beverage Association  (GAPMMI), Indonesia Association of Food Technologist (IFT-PATPI), South East Asian Food and Agricultural Science and Technology (SEAFAST), and Department of Food Science and Technology, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), BOGOR.
