Art Jakarta 2018, The Art Fair for Indonesian Artists and Art Lovers With A Comprehensive 10-Year-Anniversary Exhibition

Jakarta, 2 August 2018 – Art Jakarta 2018 is back, held 2-5 August 2018 at the Ritz Carlton Pacific Place’s Ballroom, South Jakarta. The event will be officially opened by Indonesian Creative Economy Agency’s (BEKRAF) Head, Mr. Triawan Munaf. This year, Art Jakarta marks its 10-year anniversary since its launch in 2009 as the most prestigious and recognised contemporary art fair where collectors, dealers, artists, and art enthusiasts meet and interact.

Triawan Munaf, Head BEKRAF, the Indonesian Creative Economy Agency, expressed his appreciation towards Art Jakarta 2018, “BEKRAF Indonesia fully supports the event and is extremely proud to continue the collaboration with Art Jakarta, an open-for-public art showcase. This year marks the event’s 10-year achievement in showcasing the works of both local and international artists. The fair has truly inspired local artists in Indonesia to keep improving the creative economy industry as one of the country’s economic backbones.”

Art Jakarta’s 10-year anniversary showcases a new dimension in arts, with collaborations of both local and international artist and various programmes, including Mall Art by Faisal Habibi, a public exhibition in partnership with the Pacific Place Mall; Creative Art Classes by Ganara Art Space, a workshop that gives visitors the insights to the world of art, offering children and adults different workshops; Creative Art Talks with topics such as ‘Korean Art Now’, ‘How to collect Art Photography’, ‘Art in Music Composition’, ‘Art in Music Video’, and ‘How to become a collector (by BEKRAF)’; ’10 for 10’ a conceptual museum-like exhibition featuring 10 art installations made by prominent artists; Art Unlimited, a special presentation segment for young artists initiated by BEKRAF; special performances such as Flying Balloon Puppet Show dan Pasar Purnama by Sasikirana, Gold/Glory by Thinking Room; special installation Find Your Light by Meliantha Muliawan for Lancome Genifique; and Japan Art Now featuring 10 trending Japanese artists.

Visitors can also enjoy the Art Gram feature which includes art works by renowned Instagram artists; Biennale Yogya, Museum & Educational Partners (MACAN, Ciputra Artpreneur Museum, SCAD, NAFA, and Erudio School of Art), gallery installations in the public area of the fair presented by Gajah Gallery, ROH Projects, Mizuma Gallery, RUCI Gallery, and members of AGSI (Gallery Association of Indonesia) ; Metamorphosis, a presentation of selected works by Aye Tjoe Christine ; Arti Carpet Charity Auction (Lelang amal Art Carpet) for the benefit of the Jakarta Museum Partner Foundation (Yayasan Mitra Museum Jakarta), and  the Indonesian Heart Foundation (Yayasan Jantung Indonesia), as well as an auction of Modena  refrigerators for  DoctorSHARE. Visitors may also be excited by the works of   Fernando Botero, presented in a solo show by Galeria El Museo/ Fernanda Pradilla from Spain/Colombia.

Art Jakarta 2018 will be open for the public on 3rd – 5th August 2018, schedules are as follows: Friday, 3rd August 2018, 12:00 – 22:00; Saturday, 4th August 2018, 10:00 – 22:00; and Sunday, 5 August 2018, 11:00 – 22:00. Visitors can enjoy more than 1,000 works of art created by more than 300 artists and 51 galleries; dine at Pop Art Restaurant by The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Pacific Place, highlighting its “Green House” theme by Maggie Joan; the restaurant serves Mediterranean a-la-carte cuisine by Chef Seumas Smith. The restaurant was designed by Kezia Karim and Satya Putra from Larch Studio and Virobuild; or visit the Art Bar which offers attractive momentos including sling bags, pillowcases, and shirts designed by Wedhar Riyadi, Agan Harahap, Uji Hahan Handoko, and Petek Sutrisno.
