Glaxo Smith Kline

The PR Challenge:
Cervical Cancer is treatable in the early stages if diagnosed early through regular checks. What’s more cervical cancer can be prevented through vaccination. This fact is little known among Indonesian women, and it is a sensitive issue to discuss in public and the goal of the PR campaign then was to raise awareness about the facts of cervical cancer.
The PR Program:
IM&A strategy and program links Glaxo Smith Kline to The Female Cancer Program of the University of Indonesia, and the Initiative for the Prevention of Cervical Cancer and the Indonesia Cancer Foundation. One of the highlights of the campaign was for the First Lady to come on board, and also the chairman of the Association for Family Welfare, a women’s nationwide organization headed in each city by the wive of the governor. Together with GSK these organisations launched initiatives to raise awareness amonth them the Month of Cervical Cancer Prevention working with Health Posts/Puskesmas and hospitals, introducing low cost regular checks for women in Jakarta and other cities.
The Results:
A tremendous increase in awareness of the disease through dissemination of information via the media, print as well as radio and television and social media targeted at women of all ages and the support of the First Lady of the Fight Against Cervical Cancer Movement.
